Updated 10/13/2011

I had the situation where my son activated Netflix to demonstrate how it works. But he left and I tried to activate with a new Netflix account and it did not permit me. I always got the red banner with a white screen below.
Here's how the Netflix person told me how to fix it and it works. I had called Panasonic and they said call Netflix.
A really nice lady helped me.
So what you do is follow this "sequence"
Press the up arrow 2 times
Then the down arrow 2 times
And now the left arrow 1 time, followed by the right arrow 1 time.
And, repeat , left 1 time, right 1 time
Finally, up arrow 4 times.
Wait a while, power it down, go back to the Netflix page and see if shows you a deactivation page which is self explanatory.
If it didn't work first, try again . It worked for me.

Updated 11/20/2011: This below comment from a visitor is very well written. If you follow his instructions to the letter it should work just fine:
"Quoting this because it worked the EXACT same way for me, including pressing OK to exit: I have a Panasonic BD65. You have to enter this sequence(above) after entering the netflix application but before it loads the instant queue. I entered the sequence while it was showing the spinning circle saying it was getting the instant queue. It then shows some account information and has an option to select for deactivating. The screen then just sat there saying deactivating until I hit the remote ok button - this exited Netflix and took me back the Viera Cast screen".

Updated 10/20/2011: Your comments are appreciated. It would be great if you also provided the name of the device for which you applied the procedure.
I want to make a table of those for which it works so people can easily scan it.

Updated 10/13/2011:I'm getting a lot of hits per the statistics, over 24 per day! Please leave a comment such as "it worked", "it failed".

Updated 9/13/2011: There are some great comments / usage tips from people who found this useful. If my procedure doesn't work for you, please review the comments.
I'm also getting the feeling that this procedure works with other Blu Ray players, (one post), but I don't have the ability to test them.

I publish all comments unless they are inappropriate

  1. I just wanted to say thanks! We just got an "open box" BluRay player and used your instructions to deactivate the existing netflix account. We would never have figured it out on our own! Thank you!!

  2. Took me two tries, and good to note that you have to be within the DVD's Netflix account when doing these steps, not your Blu-Ray screen.

  3. I also want to thank you for posting this. Honestly, I didn't believe your instructions, but they worked. Thanks for the help!

  4. OMG. This worked for my Panasonic BT-330, I thought this was a joke. Thank You.

  5. I tried your instructions a few times with no luck. Was the netflix queue empty when you used these steps? Mine has movies listed in it.

  6. Hi. Thanks for the instructions. I tried using them but it didn't work. Did you have the instant queue empty or did it have movies in it?

  7. thank you worked 1st time. I have the bdt100p 3d player and it worked on that.

  9. I tried this several times but didn't work. Are ou supposed to do it from the Nextflix instant queue? From the home place? I tried both several times and didn't work.

    Thanks,

  10. Just used these instructions to deactivate a Netflix account from my Panasonic DMP-BD85. It worked. Just be sure you are already in Netflix before going through the sequence of arrows.

  11. My Blu-Ray Player (BD85) would not deactivate, even when i deactivated from the netflix site. So I did as instructed and it worked! Thanks!

  13. No offense, but it sounded kind of odd. I tried it and it worked!!! Thanks!! Also, make sure you are on the netflix screen, it doesn't work from the bluray player's home screen.

Thank you again for posting that!

  16. I have the Panasonic DMP-BD85, worked on the first try! I saw this code a week ago on another website but assumed the author of the post was giving false hope by trying to tricking readers with what I remember being a cheat code on the Super NES. After reading reviews of your post, I gave it a try. LMAO, it actually worked!?!? Thanks a bunch man. Panasonic is really retarded for hiding this ability.

  17. lol I too thought he was having a laugh.. that is so stupid, why didn't they include the netflix network program with the rest of the account password info. I was so surprised when it worked. This should be a lot easier.

  18. You have to get to the "Start Membership Terms of Use" screen and then do the arrow trick for it to work.

    THANKS SO MUCH!!

  20. I have the panasonic BD65. the sequence worked for me like this. enter the sequence after entering netflix, while showing the spinning circle...my player actually went back to Network screen again. i went back to Netflix, i tried the sequence again, waited for few seconds...until a screen to choose to deactivate appeared. you'll see the old acct info there, deactivate that then the screen will look frozen just saying deactivating. go ahead and hit OK from the remote. go back to Netflix and you should be able to reactivate with a new code or start a free trial. goodluck!!

  25. Worked! I had to try a few times.

UUDD LRLR UUUU is the code

Do it while you are in the Netflix account. I think it worked when I did this while the white circle was spinning to retrieve instant queue.

    Thank you very much!!

  26. This worked for me too. However, I did not have to do it before the instant queue loaded, the queue was up and the code worked anyway.

  27. Thank you so much for the DIY. I thought the "sequence" was a joke at first (like a mortal combat combo) but it worked. I used it on a Panasonic TC-P50S30 Smart TV.

  32. up up down down left right left right.... felt like i was entering a nintendo cheat but it definitely worked on the first go.
we did this on my parents' panasonic BDT-210. thanks so much!

  33. This arrow pressing sequence worked for me. I started the sequence while it was loading netflix as per the advice. It brought up a screen showing my account info and I noticed there was a deactivate button which I selected and hit ok.

The device is a Panasonic DMP-BDT210P which I am returning today because it blinks/ video blips on certain movies. Netflix runs fine on the WII and Nook Tablets and I have a new dual band router so I am assuming it is this out of the box Panasonic I bought at half price at Best Buy that is the problem.

  40. I had to try this a few times to get the timing right, and I almost gave up and thought you were all crazy. It worked when I started the sequence after the queue began loading, and did it quickly enough to finish the sequence before the queue was up. I wonder if the panasonic people were laughing at us when they thought this up. Thank you for the info!!.

  41. I want to thank you all. Took me four or five times but it worked

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you it worked on my Panisonic DMP-DB655. It did not work the first 5x trying to do it with the spinning circle. However following one of the prior replys, I tried it after the instant que was up and it worked the first time.

  43. Worked for me too. I am returning a panasonic dmp-bdt220 blu-ray player and wanted to de-activate my account first. This saved me from dealing with customer service, so thank you! One thing I found, and it may be particular to this model, was that I had to do it once the Instant Queue had already loaded. Then it was up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-up-up-up-up. When I first read the instructions, I thought you repeated the whole sequence, not just the left-right part. Took a few tries but well worth it! Thanks.

  44. It worked! Thank you. I never would of figured this out and I'm fairly computer savvy.

  46. This is the most absurd thing I have ever seen... I remember there was a secret menu on Netflix Roku way back when and this seems to be the same process, but WTH? Why hide it? Very weird. Works as described.

  47. Worked perfectly on a Panasonic Viera TC-P42X3 TV. Why do you need to know a cheat code to do something so simple? Ridiculous, but thanks to this website.

  48. BDT210 - Worked when got to screen to choose regular or kid netflix. Insane. THX!

    ReplyDelete
  49. VERY HELPFUL!

If you didnt see it in the original text or in the posts, the code once again is Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right Up Up Up Up.

And it totally worked!!! Do it before the queue loads and you should be set. Dont forget to press OK while it says that its "Deactivating"

    Panasonic DMP-BD85

    Thank You Big Time!

  52. Entered wrong email address and netflix was insisting on a credit card to activate new account. This worked perfectly from that payment screen on a Panasonic DMP-BDT210.

  59. Thanks for your help. This worked on a DMP-BDT230. I was on the phone with Panasonic for almost an hour trying to do this. A quick google search later and it is done.

  60. Worked like a charm on DMP-BDT220. Tried sequence as soon as Netflix splash screen occurred, but nothing happened. Repeated sequence when screen switched to populating the contents of the instant queue and the deactivation screen appeared. Why Netflix/Panasonic has hidden the device deactivation is beyond me, but this key sequence works. Thanks!

  68. did not work my ex girl friend changed the password so I cant get to the queue HELP!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. The purpose of this procedure was to remove the Netflix queue and as far as I can remember (been a while now) you didn't need a password to remove the Netflix queue.
If the Netflix password was changed, you can go back to Netflix.com and see if they can help restore you password. Or you can call them if the password reset is not working. My 2c!

  78. Holy f'in ridiculous nutflix.

Thanks a million you are a life saver.

Time I'll never get back. Works on a BDT-220.

    Oh and P.S. Nuttyflix,

  81. Wow...I thought this was some kind of joke making a mock of video game cheat codes or something..It actually worked!! I have a Panasonic BD65

    ReplyDelete
  82. It worked on my BD871. The trick was that I had to let the player log into the splash screen on Netflix where my name was displayed. Then, instead of hitting the OK button on my remote to begin browsing Netflix, I entered the code exactly as it is above. After waiting a very short time, I was transferred to a screen which allowed me to choose to deactivate my Netflix account.

    ReplyDelete
  83. What if the old Netflix account is on hold due to non payment? This code does not work on my DMP85 as I either get server error or that the account is on hold because a previous owner stopped paying. There is no cue to load up so I don't have time to enter the code. I want to remove the old account and use my current one.

    ReplyDelete
  84. What if the old account is on hold due to non payment? I don't have enough time to enter the code on my dmp bd85. I have tried at least 20 times at different parts of the Netflix opening sequence.

    ReplyDelete
  85. It worked on my DMP-BD65. I'd dinked around with this issue off and on for over a year. When I first saw this answer, it really did seem like a joke. But it worked!! As noted by several folks, the timing of the sequence is critical. Took me ~ 6 tries before it worked. For me, there are 3 screens: The first is red (loading Instant Queue). That's followed by a 2nd screen (white, loading instant queue) and a 3rd screen where your instant queue has loaded and titles are visible. For me, the code had to be entered while it was on #2. Then select "disable" and OK to exit. I'm thrilled to finally have this resolved.
